Home Staging. Is it really worth it?

“In a recent survey in 2018 of over 4200 homes and found that 85% of the staged homes sold for 6-25% more than the unstaged homes. Additionally, 68% of the staged homes sold for at least 9% more than their “un-staged neighbor’s” home.”
At Fresh Interior Solutions, I do Occupied Home Staging where most or all of your furniture is still in the home and you still live there or it is on the rental market. I specialize in working with what you already have and adding art and accessories only as needed to make the home more attractive to potential buyers. Isn’t Home Staging Expensive?
Not necessarily. Because I understand how to work with your existing furniture and decor, it can be pretty reasonable, considering that it will make your home look so much better to potential buyers. Staging will help your home to be far more competitive on the real estate market, and your home will likely sell faster and for more money.
Let’s consider an actual occupied Home Staging I did for a client who was on a limited budget. This client only had the budget to have a half day service done and that half day even needed to included a quick shopping trip for some art and accessories she knew ahead of time she would need. Above is a before picture of the living room. As you can see that the living room area felt very empty and had little personality. The front door actually opened right into this living room so it was the first priority of the day!
And here’s the after photo! With the newly added pop of red in the room, this room truly gained a personality! Replacing the existing worn out pillows freshened up the space along with a very inexpensive rug to help anchor the room. Over all, we both felt this room turned out nicely, especially considering the limited funds my client was able to invest in the project.
Summing it Up
Is Home Staging worthwhile? Absolutely.
Is it always expensive? It doesn’t have to be.

Now, the only concern my client from this staging expressed in her finished home was not a design concern at all, but rather was the challenge she would face of helping her young son (pictured above) understand that this new living room was definitely NOT going to be a new playroom for him!
